NorthTracker was founded in 2011 by entrepreneur Peter Åkesson and his former partner in Bromma, Sweden. They initially focused on alarm systems for boats and began early development of GPS-based services.

The first six months were dedicated to building the company’s initial services in a market where similar solutions were limited and often lacked intuitive usability. The focus soon shifted towards theft protection and digital mileage logs.
